Senior Hardware Program Manager

Role Summary

Manage hardware program execution from initiation through delivery by defining and owning the plan of record: schedules, resources, deliverables, risks and progress tracking. Work across engineering, verification, and implementation teams and with internal and external stakeholders to drive milestones, alignment, and on-time delivery.

Experience Level

Senior. Minimum 4+ years of program management or related experience in the hardware (HW) field; 7+ years preferred.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include running medium-complexity programs or multiple small programs, monitoring progress against plan, and driving cross-functional alignment.

• Develop and maintain program Plan of Record (schedule, scope, resources, communication cadence).
• Track program metrics, identify deviations, escalate issues and propose corrective actions.
• Manage schedules, task assignments and prioritization for program teams.
• Create and maintain risk registers and mitigation plans.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and sponsors to set priorities and ensure deliverables meet objectives.
• Promote adoption of program/process best practices and identify process improvements.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience; preferred items noted separately.

• Must-have: 4+ years of program management or related work experience in the HW field.
• Must-have: Practical understanding of the RTL-to-GDSII flow and hands-on experience in at least one hardware domain.
• Must-have: Experience working independently and communicating technical progress and risks to multiple audiences, including senior leaders.
• Must-have: Experience using program management tools (dashboards, Gantt charts) and tracking key program metrics.
• Nice-to-have: 7+ years of program management experience, prior interaction with director-level or above, experience in large matrixed organizations.
• Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience (4+ years) in HW design, verification, or implementation (synthesis, physical design).
• Nice-to-have: PMP certification.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Master's or Doctorate in a relevant field is preferred and may substitute for up to two years of required work experience (Master's = one year, Doctorate = two years). PMP certification is listed as preferred. Equivalency by relevant practical experience is implied where stated.
