Senior Hardware Engineer, SoC Architecture & Design
QualcommJob Title
Senior Hardware Engineer, SoC Architecture & Design
Role Summary
Contribute to the architecture, micro-architecture, and RTL design of next-generation SoCs and compute platforms within the ASICS Engineering organization. Work across architecture, verification, physical design and software teams to deliver integrated silicon solutions.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 8+ years in SoC architecture or digital design; candidates with equivalent experience that demonstrates the ability to perform senior-level SoC architecture and RTL design will be considered.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include defining architectures, designing RTL, and driving projects from architecture to silicon.
- Define SoC and subsystem architectures and micro-architectures.
- Develop and integrate CPUs, accelerators, memory subsystems, and interconnect/NoC solutions.
- Write, review and maintain high-quality RTL.
- Collaborate with architecture, verification, physical design, and software teams to ensure correct integration.
- Drive design convergence from architecture through implementation to silicon readiness.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (degree details summarized below):
- Proven experience in SoC architecture and digital design, including memory subsystems and NoC concepts.
- Experience with ARM and/or RISC-V systems.
- Knowledge of cache coherency, virtualization, MMU/SMMU, and memory architectures.
- Hands-on RTL development and familiarity with front-end design flows (synthesis, lint, CDC, DFT, formal verification).
- Experience with industry-standard interfaces such as AXI, CHI, DDR, PCIe, and Ethernet.
- Strong communication and technical leadership; able to coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with accelerators and high-performance computing systems.
Education Requirements
The posting references Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Science, Engineering, or a related field. It lists multiple acceptable degree/experience combinations (examples from the source include: Bachelor's + 8+ years; Master's + 6+ years; PhD + 4+ years; alternative lower-year combinations such as Bachelor's + 2+ years or Master's + 1+ year). Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
