Senior Hardware Engineer - PCB / System Design

Role Summary

Lead hardware design and delivery for next-generation routing and switching platforms, owning technical deliverables from concept through production. Work as technical lead across cross-functional and cross-geography teams, coordinating with PCB layout, signal integrity, power, mechanical, firmware, software, manufacturing and external suppliers.

Responsibilities

Accountable for hardware design, verification, documentation and product bring-up for networking products.

• Own technical deliverables and documentation: product specs, HW specs, design reviews, DVT plans, compliance and diagnostic test plans.
• Review and approve schematics, BOMs, placement, routing, Gerbers and other design artifacts.
• Perform board bring-up, debug, DVT, fault analysis and new-part qualification in lab environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors throughout NPI and sustaining phases.
• Design and implement logic in CPLDs/FPGAs as required for board-level functionality.
• Provide product sustaining support and contribute to design-for-manufacturability and cost trade-offs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; desired items noted separately.

• Minimum 10 years experience in hardware design for networking or telecom systems.
• Proven ownership of product platforms from concept to volume production; familiarity with all product life-cycle phases.
• Hands-on expertise in high-speed PCB design, bring-up and debugging; strong lab skills with test and measurement equipment.
• Deep experience with CPU and memory subsystems and high-speed interfaces such as DDR4/DDR5, PCIe, SPI, XGMII, XFI, XAUI.
• Experience with CPLD/FPGA design and verification; able to collaborate with firmware/BIOS and software teams.
• Strong system-level design awareness including PCB, mechanical, thermal, power conversion, DFM/DFA and cost considerations.
• Good documentation, communication and supplier-management skills; ability to lead cross-functional NPI programs.
• Ability to analyze compliance and test results and drive corrective actions.

Nice-to-have:

• Working knowledge of EMI/EMC, safety and environmental regulatory compliance for telecom systems.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electronics & Telecommunication, Electrical Engineering or related field (e.g. ME/M.Tech preferred) from a recognized university. Candidates with equivalent demonstrated technical experience may be considered.
