Senior GPU Physical Design Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
Senior GPU Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Implement and sign off GPU physical designs from RTL to GDS, focusing on performance, power, area, and timing closure. Work within Intel's Data Center Group (DCG) and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver next-generation graphics products for data center and enterprise applications.
Experience Level
Senior. Typical experience guidance: 6+ years with a Bachelor's, 4+ years with a Master's, or 2+ years with a PhD (see Education Requirements for full details).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include executing physical design tasks, performing signoff, and improving design methodologies and automation.
- Execute physical implementation: synthesis, placement, routing, and clock tree synthesis.
- Perform verification and signoff tasks such as static timing analysis, layout verification, and formal equivalence checking.
- Analyze results and collaborate with design, timing, and verification teams to optimize power, frequency, and area.
- Develop and improve physical design methodologies and automation flows.
- Address GPU-specific development challenges including SoC integration and timing closure for advanced process nodes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Education and degree-year guidance is in the Education Requirements section below.
- Proven experience with ASIC physical-design flows: floorplanning, synthesis, place & route, and layout verification.
- Hands-on experience with industry tools such as Fusion Compiler, Genus/Innovus, ICC-DP, PrimeTime, StarRC, and Formality.
- Advanced scripting skills for flow automation (Tcl, Python, or similar).
- Experience with GPU physical design challenges, including SoC integration and achieving timing closure.
- Experience optimizing power, performance, and area on advanced process nodes.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments for tool and flow development.
- Nice-to-have: experience developing tool flows, methodology development, or ownership of RTL-to-GDS production flows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with 4+ years; or PhD with 2+ years. The posting also states experience may be obtained through a combination of degree, research, prior job, or internship experience (i.e., equivalent practical experience is acceptable).
