Senior Full Stack Engineer

Role Summary

Senior full-stack engineer responsible for designing and implementing SiFive's Visual Studio Code plugin and associated front-end interfaces that consume SCD REST APIs. Work within the SiFive Core Designer (SCD) team and report to the Director of SCD.

This is an onsite role based in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Employment is contingent on right-to-work verification for Taiwan and any required export-control authorizations.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 5+ years of professional full-stack development experience (posting specifies five years).

Responsibilities

The role focuses on front-end and extension development, code quality, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Design and implement responsive user interfaces and UX for the VS Code plugin using JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Develop the Visual Studio Code extension to access SCD REST APIs and enable core IP workflows.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code; perform and participate in code reviews.
• Implement and maintain front-end automated tests and CI processes.
• Optimize front-end code for performance and reliability.
• Mentor team members on JavaScript, TypeScript, and extension development best practices.
• Collaborate closely with backend engineers, designers, QA, and customer support.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

• 5+ years professional experience as a full-stack developer.
• Proficient in Python and Django; experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Strong front-end skills with JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Proficient with version control (Git) and build tooling.
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and familiarity with orchestration concepts.
• Experience with automated testing, code reviews, and maintaining code quality.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience developing Visual Studio Code extensions/plugins and VS Code ecosystem tools.
• Familiarity with AWS and S3.
• Experience with Kubernetes and security best practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and UI/UX design skills.
