Senior FPGA Verification Engineer

Role Summary

The Imaging team builds electro-optical and infrared imaging systems combining hardware and software for defense applications. This role leads FPGA verification efforts to assure RTL quality, support prototype validation (ground and flight), and mature designs into production hardware.

Experience Level

Senior - the posting requests 8+ years of relevant FPGA/HDL and verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on architecture, development, and execution of FPGA/ASIC verification flows and leading verification activities on projects.

• Design verification environment architecture and implement verification frameworks (SystemVerilog, OVM/UVM).
• Write test plans and testcases; track code coverage and functional coverage.
• Develop testbenches for RTL blocks using VHDL and/or SystemVerilog.
• Apply constrained-random testing, assertions, and functional coverage to chip-level verification.
• Recommend and adopt tools and practices to improve ASIC/FPGA verification flows.
• Provide technical leadership: decompose verification work, plan activities, and report status for project teams.
• Support prototype build, lab validation, and transition of designs toward production and field testing.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and constraints for the role.

• 8+ years developing HDL firmware for FPGA devices.
• Professional experience developing and simulating RTL using VHDL and/or Verilog in FPGA or ASIC projects.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and execute verification testbenches using VHDL and/or SystemVerilog.
• Experience with chip-level verification methodologies: constrained-random testing, functional coverage analysis, and assertion-based verification (SystemVerilog).
• Experience using revision control systems such as Git or Subversion.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-have / preferred:

• ASIC/FPGA lab validation and debug experience and familiarity with DFT, manufacturability, and production test concepts.
• Proficiency with Unix/Linux environments and scripting or software development (C, C++, Python, Perl, shell).
• Experience with industry simulation and synthesis tools such as QuestaSim, Synplify, Quartus, or Vivado.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is typically required; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
