Job Title

Senior FPGA Engineer

Role Summary

Lead FPGA-focused microelectronics programs delivering design, verification, fabrication, packaging, trust, and assurance solutions for Department of Defense systems. Provide technical and programmatic advice, conduct engineering assessments, and oversee design, test, fielding, and sustainment of advanced FPGA-based systems.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires 7+ years of FPGA development and research across multiple device families and platforms.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead architecture, design, and implementation of FPGA and SoC solutions for advanced systems.
  • Develop hardware design specifications, functional block diagrams, state diagrams, and schematics.
  • Plan and execute verification, acceptance, and production testing for FPGA systems.
  • Perform functional analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition.
  • Provide technical assessments, strategic planning, and engineering evaluations for government customers.
  • Lead programs addressing hardware trust, integrity, and assurance.
  • Guide cross-disciplinary teams through design, test, fielding, and sustainment activities.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred qualifications:

  • 7+ years of FPGA development and research across multiple device families and platforms.
  • Proven experience with Hardware Description Languages (HDL) and embedded design for FPGAs/SoCs.
  • Experience implementing HDL in systems with or without microcontrollers and developing verification test benches and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with hardware and design security concepts and embedded software integration.
  • Ability to perform technical planning, circuit-level design, implementation, verification, and production testing.
  • Ability to lead hardware design efforts and perform functional analysis and trade studies.
  • Active Secret security clearance required.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with alternatives to HDL (e.g., HDL Coder, Xilinx System Generator), Universal Verification Methodology (UVM), continuous integration practices, and defense microelectronics verification.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred; Doctorate in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is a plus.
