Role Summary
Lead FPGA design, simulation, integration and debugging for electro-optical systems used in defense applications. Work on a multidisciplinary engineering team providing technical leadership throughout development, system integration, and manufacturing support.
Experience Level
Senior β requires approximately 10+ years of relevant engineering experience; proven leadership on FPGA projects.
Responsibilities
Deliver FPGA hardware/firmware from architecture through production and support.
- Lead FPGA design, RTL development (VHDL/Verilog), synthesis and timing closure.
- Develop and run testbenches, simulation flows, and verification for FPGA designs.
- Integrate FPGAs with sensors, video interfaces (MIPI, LVDS, camera/display interfaces), high-speed links and host systems.
- Troubleshoot integration and field failures to root cause; implement fixes and mitigations.
- Support system integration, manufacturing transitions, and customer program reviews.
- Produce technical documentation for fabrication, assembly, and vendor communications.
Requirements
Required technical skills and work conditions.
- Extensive FPGA/SoC experience with Xilinx, Lattice, or Microchip devices.
- Strong RTL design skills in VHDL and/or Verilog; experience with RTL synthesis and constraints.
- Experience with simulation and verification tools (Modelsim/Questa, Aldec, VCS) and synthesis tools (Vivado, Synplify, XST).
- Familiarity with FPGA place & route, timing/size closure and high-speed interfaces (SERDES, DDR, MIPI, LVDS).
- Experience with pipelined FPGA video processing and camera/sensor interfaces.
- Hands-on system integration, debug, and test; basic soldering and test equipment use.
- Familiarity with PCB schematic capture (Orcad) and working knowledge of PCB/layout considerations is a plus.
- Ability to work on site in Manchester, NH and travel occasionally to customer locations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and able to interact with customers and suppliers.
- Must be a U.S. person (ITAR requirement).
