Job Title
Senior FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement FPGA solutions for CACI's wireless and RF products. Work on system-level FPGA/DSP architectures, collaborate with hardware, firmware, and systems engineers, and support product bring-up and integration. Role may require limited travel (up to 10%).
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting requests 10+ years of relevant FPGA, DSP, and communications systems experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing, implementing, and validating FPGA-based signal processing and communications subsystems and supporting system integration.
- Architect, code, and verify FPGA firmware for DSP and RF applications.
- Develop pin and timing constraints; manage implementation and timing closure.
- Debug complex FPGA designs at the system level and during hardware bring-up.
- Implement and validate high-speed interfaces (e.g., JESD204C, 2.5Gβ100G Ethernet).
- Integrate transport layers such as VITA-49 into FPGA systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on embedded software, hardware, and test activities.
- Support test plans, experimental verification, and evaluation of component/board performance.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills.
Must-have:
- 10+ years of relevant FPGA/DSP/communications experience.
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain at least a Secret security clearance; willing to pass pre-employment drug screen.
- In-depth HDL coding experience in VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog.
- Experience managing pin and timing constraints and achieving timing closure.
- Proven ability to debug complex FPGA designs in system-level environments.
- Experience with high-speed architectures and interfaces (JESD204C, multi-gigabit Ethernet up to 100G).
- Knowledge of communications systems and algorithms: modulation/demodulation, channel estimation/equalization, FEC, AGC/AFC, RF filters.
- DSP baseband processing and peripheral programming; experience programming DSPs and FPGAs using Python, C/C++, and MATLAB/Simulink.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience implementing wireless standards (3GPP LTE/WCDMA, IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.15).
- Mixed-signal experience: quantization, dynamic range (SFDR), and baseband equivalent modeling.
- Experience with SoCs (Ultrascale+, Zynq 7000, Agilex) and softcore processors (Picoblaze, MicroBlaze, NIOS).
- Experience with DMA and AMBA/AXI buses and simulation using SystemVerilog classes/packages.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field is specified.
