Job Title

Senior FPGA Engineer

Role Summary

Senior FPGA Engineer responsible for designing and implementing video and audio processing solutions on Xilinx FPGAs for aircraft cabin systems. Works onsite with hardware, software, and systems teams to deliver real-time 4K+ video and digital audio integration from design through verification and board bring-up.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 8–10+ years of hands-on FPGA development experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement video and audio processing algorithms in Verilog targeting Xilinx devices.
  • Develop video pipelines (4K/UHD, HDR/SDR, scaling, color conversion) and audio processing (IEC 60958 LPCM, IEC 61937, I2S TDM, AES67, CobraNet, Dante, DSP functions).
  • Integrate and validate high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, HDMI, SDI, MIPI, DisplayPort, GMSL, and GigE.
  • Support USB-based 4K video playback in embedded cabin environments.
  • Perform simulation, verification, and laboratory debugging using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and custom simulations.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems teams on design partitioning, timing closure, board bring-up, and performance optimization.
  • Integrate vendor IP, maintain code reuse standards, and create thorough design documents and interface definitions.
  • Contribute to existing projects and potentially lead new product development.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills:

  • Must-have: 8–10+ years of hands-on FPGA development experience with proven expertise on Xilinx FPGAs and Vivado or similar toolchains.
  • Must-have: Strong Verilog coding skills and experience integrating Xilinx IP.
  • Must-have: Extensive experience with real-time 4K video pipelines and digital audio stream handling.
  • Must-have: Experience with video I/O standards and interfaces (HDMI, DisplayPort, MIPI CSI-2/DSI-2, GMSL, SDI, GigE) and customization of vendor IP cores.
  • Must-have: Proficiency in high-speed digital design practices: multiple clock domains, AXI streaming/memory-mapped interfaces, coherent configuration/status, and clock crossings.
  • Must-have: Lab bring-up and debugging experience and ability to analyze hardware schematics (no board design required).
  • Preferred: Zynq platform experience and familiarity with FPGA/processor co-design.
  • Preferred: Experience with video compression/decompression, audio resampling, Linux scripting for FPGA tools, and CI/CD/DevOps practices.
  • Preferred: Strong cross-disciplinary collaboration skills and readiness to take on varied responsibilities.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
