Job Title

Senior Firmware Engineer - LPU

Role Summary

Develop low-level firmware for NVIDIA AI-accelerator hardware, including bootloaders, drivers, RTOS components, and system services. Work on performance-critical firmware affecting system behavior and reliability.

Collaborate with hardware, silicon, system software, and AI teams to define interfaces, support integration, and drive system bring-up and validation.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement, and maintain firmware across the product stack (bootloader, drivers, RTOS, and system services).
  • Develop firmware specifications and define interface behaviors across system components.
  • Profile, optimize, and validate latency-critical code paths for performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with hardware, silicon, system software, and AI teams to define interfaces and support system integration.
  • Debug and resolve complex system-level issues spanning firmware and hardware interactions.
  • Contribute to system bring-up, validation, testing, and continuous improvements in firmware quality.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 8+ years professional firmware development experience on complex SoC/ASIC platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ (C11 or later) and low-level system programming.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, VxWorks, ThreadX) and/or bare-metal firmware.
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed interfaces (PCIe Gen3/4/5, DDR4/5, SerDes, Ethernet) and peripheral buses (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN).
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across hardware/software boundaries.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams to deliver robust firmware in complex environments.

Nice-to-have:

  • Firmware experience for AI/ML hardware or datacenter systems.
  • Experience with firmware testing frameworks, automation, and performance tuning.

Education Requirements

B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
