Senior Firmware Engineer
Role Summary
Work on the ICT Firmware Engineering Team to develop and support embedded firmware for interconnect technologies across pre-silicon, post-silicon and production stages. The team focuses on firmware enabling industry and proprietary standards and on firmware transformation initiatives.
Location: Belgrade or Nis, Serbia. Fixed-term 12-month contract with possibility of extension or conversion.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include development, validation and production support of firmware for embedded systems and interconnect IP.
- Develop low-level firmware for embedded systems running in RTOS environments.
- Implement firmware supporting interconnect technologies (PCIe, CXL, MCTP, UBM, USB4).
- Collaborate with BIOS, power management, architecture, design and verification teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Participate in pre-silicon validation activities such as co-simulation and SoC emulation.
- Support post-silicon bring-up, debugging, triage and production enablement.
- Lead firmware integration testing and debugging across pre- and post-silicon phases.
- Maintain firmware through full design cycle, including production bug fixes and releases.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and preferred additional skills summarized below.
- Must-have: Expert in C and experience in embedded firmware or device driver development.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience across pre-silicon, post-silicon and production firmware lifecycles, including lab debug and bug triage for silicon bring-up.
- Must-have: Comfortable working in a Linux build environment and familiar with software engineering practices.
- Must-have: Strong problem-solving, organizational and verbal/written communication skills; able to work independently under tight deadlines.
- Must-have: Understanding of hardware and software system integration.
- Preferred: Experience with C++, Python, Zephyr RTOS and relevant communication protocols.
- Preferred: Experience with firmware integration testing, co-simulation, SoC emulation and production enablement workflows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or equivalent.
