Senior Firmware Developer

Role Summary

Hands-on individual contributor responsible for designing, implementing, debugging and integrating firmware and low-level system software for automotive compute subsystems. Collaborates with technical leads and architects to enable partners and customers to demonstrate platform capabilities.

Responsibilities

Primary day-to-day responsibilities include development, optimization and delivery of production-quality low-level software.

  • Design, implement, debug and integrate firmware and low-level system components.
  • Develop core firmware and device drivers for automotive compute subsystems.
  • Write, review and maintain production-quality C, assembly and Yocto-based code.
  • Analyze and optimize CPU, GPU, I/O and memory usage across the system.
  • Plan and prioritize engineering work packages with project management and tech leadership.
  • Mentor engineers and enforce high code quality and maintainability standards.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience.

  • 5+ years hands-on experience designing and developing firmware and device drivers; recent, regular coding at OS kernel or bare-metal level.
  • Strong C and Assembly programming skills; experience delivering production code.
  • Proven track record of contributing core features, drivers or low-level system components in recent roles.
  • Deep familiarity with low-level compute infrastructures and system performance analysis.
  • Knowledge of Arm architectures and Arm Trusted Firmware is highly valued.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with system languages such as C++ or Rust.
  • Fluency with scripting languages (Python, Bash).
  • Experience with Zephyr RTOS, FreeRTOS or Safety RTOS variants.
  • Familiarity with open-source projects such as TF-A, TF-M, U-Boot and Xen.
  • Knowledge of automotive standards, protocols and safety-domain software stacks.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
