Senior Field Applications Engineer

Role Summary

Join Qorvo's Americas Field Applications Engineering team reporting to the FAE Manager. The role delivers customer-facing technical support in Southern California or Arizona to secure product design wins, with particular emphasis on defense and aerospace applications.

The engineer will work with Sales Managers, business units, customers, distributors and partners to resolve design issues, support testing and characterization, and convey customer requirements to internal teams.

Experience Level

Senior — Professional level. Typically requires 5+ years of experience in RF/Microwave technical roles.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include customer support, design guidance, and collaboration with sales and product teams to drive design-ins.

  • Drive product design-ins and achieve design wins across Qorvo business units, with emphasis on defense and aerospace.
  • Provide technical support for Qorvo products, including initial support and periodic product updates to customers.
  • Advise customers on design considerations such as ESD protection, emissions (FCC), and thermal design.
  • Perform failure analysis, troubleshooting, and additional testing/characterization of devices and customer designs as needed.
  • Identify and define new product requirements with customers and represent those requirements to applications and marketing teams.
  • Maintain competitor cross-reference information and assist with device comparisons.
  • Travel periodically to customer sites and as required to resolve design or production issues.

Requirements

Required and preferred qualifications.

Must-have:

  • 5+ years in an RF/microwave technical role (design, product engineering, or applications engineering).
  • Hands-on experience with RF circuit and system design and debugging.
  • High-level understanding of RF systems from system design to component level.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer specifications and requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel periodically to customer sites.
  • Position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Gallium Nitride (GaN) power amplifiers.
  • Experience with ADS or equivalent RF simulation tools.
  • Experience with Power Management ICs (PMICs) and defense/aerospace projects.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required. Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering preferred.
