Job Title

Senior Field Application Engineer - OEM

Role Summary

The Senior Field Application Engineer - OEM is the technical lead for sustaining engineering of NVIDIA data-center products used by OEM customers. The role focuses on failure analysis, managing RMA and qualification activities, and collaborating with OEMs, ODMs, manufacturing partners, and internal engineering teams to resolve critical hardware, firmware, and integration issues.

This is a hands-on, on-site role based in the Round Rock, TX area and requires travel as needed.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience in field application engineering, sustaining engineering, failure analysis, systems engineering, or product engineering.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead sustaining-engineering efforts for NVIDIA data-center products used by OEMs, from triage through root-cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Perform system- and board-level failure analysis to isolate hardware, firmware, software, thermal, power, and integration issues.
  • Manage the complete RMA process: failure-data collection, return authorization, material tracking, engineering disposition, and communications.
  • Reproduce field failures in lab environments, analyze failure trends, and drive preventive improvements to product quality and serviceability.
  • Collaborate with OEMs, ODMs, manufacturing, quality, reliability, operations, and supply-chain teams to resolve critical issues.
  • Provide on-site technical support and deliver failure-analysis reports, corrective-action updates, troubleshooting procedures, and executive-level communications.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in field application engineering, sustaining engineering, failure analysis, systems engineering, or product engineering.
  • Hands-on experience debugging complex server or compute platforms at both system and board levels.
  • Proven experience managing field failures or RMA cases through structured root-cause analysis and corrective-action closure (e.g., 8D, FRACAS, fault-tree analysis).
  • Strong understanding of server architecture: CPUs, GPUs, memory, storage, power delivery, cooling, and high-speed interconnects.
  • Experience with PCIe and troubleshooting BMC/IPMI or Redfish, BIOS/UEFI, Linux, drivers, firmware, system logs, and hardware telemetry.
  • Experience with hardware bring-up, board validation, system qualification, and L1–L10 server integration and manufacturing test stages.
  • Ability to read schematics, block diagrams, diagnostic data, manufacturing test results, and thermal/electrical measurements.
  • Excellent project-management and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must operate from the Round Rock, TX area and travel as required.

Nice-to-have:

  • Direct experience supporting NVIDIA HGX, DGX, MGX or comparable GPU-accelerated data-center systems.
  • Experience owning sustaining-engineering, failure-analysis, or RMA programs for OEMs, ODMs, cloud providers, or hyperscalers.
  • Familiarity with physical failure-analysis techniques, reliability engineering, statistical trend analysis, and manufacturing/field-quality processes.
  • Experience with ARM-based systems, NVIDIA GPUs, system firmware, and diagnostic automation using Python or shell scripting.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline - or equivalent practical experience.
