Role Summary
The Senior Field Application Engineer (MPU) is a customer-facing technical role based in the Eastern United States supporting Industrial and IoT designs. You will drive design‑in activity at customer sites, provide technical support to sales, resolve customer technical issues, and influence product roadmaps through customer and competitive insights.
This role partners with sales, business lines, and partner teams to secure design wins, lead proof‑of‑concept work, and communicate the technical and business value of NXP system solutions.
Experience Level
Senior — requires a minimum of 5 years of development engineering or applications support experience with SoC-based embedded systems.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on customer technical support, driving design wins, and enabling the sales organization.
- Provide timely, high-quality technical support to assigned customers and sales teams.
- Drive design wins and demand creation at target accounts and technologies.
- Lead proof-of-concept, solution design, and product demonstrations.
- Capture and synthesize customer and competitive feedback to influence product roadmaps.
- Define and communicate NXP system solution value relative to competitors.
- Build relationships with sales, business-line teams, partners, and customers to support commercial objectives.
- Analyze customer technical objectives and recommend solutions that improve sales effectiveness.
- Train sales and distribution partners on product features and business value.
- Develop system-level knowledge of target application spaces.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience, and a short list of preferred additions.

Must-have: Field Application Engineering experience in the semiconductor industry.

Must-have: Demonstrated knowledge of SoC hardware interfaces such as Ethernet, MIPI, SDIO, LPDDR4/5, Quad/Octal SPI, and USB; familiarity with ARM Cortex-A and Cortex-M register programming models.

Must-have: Hands-on experience with embedded Linux (kernel and user-space) and U-Boot environments.

Must-have: Ability to read and review schematics and provide design recommendations; experience with custom board bring-up and debug activities.

Must-have: Willingness to travel to customer meetings and trainings; experienced in delivering technical training to sales staff and distributors.

Nice-to-have: Hands-on knowledge of graphics and video subsystems and related drivers.

Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Embedded Edge AI concepts, tools, and model deployment.

Other attributes: Strong communication and influencing skills, ability to learn new technologies quickly, adaptability in changing plans, and cultural awareness when working with customers.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. Role description also specifies a minimum of 5 years of development engineering or applications support experience with SoC-based embedded systems.
