Senior Equipment Engineering & Maintenance Manager
Role Summary
Lead equipment engineering and maintenance operations for Wafer Fab, Probe, Assembly, and Test equipment at the Palm Bay, FL semiconductor manufacturing facility. Manage teams of equipment engineers and maintenance technicians to improve equipment reliability, yield, throughput, and cost of ownership.
This is a hands-on technical leadership and people-management role partnering with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Quality, NPI, and Supply Chain to align equipment activities with production and business requirements.
Experience Level
Senior — requires substantial domain experience. The posting requests 8+ years in semiconductor manufacturing equipment engineering and/or maintenance and 3+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leading teams, improving equipment performance, and managing lifecycle activities across front-end and back-end operations.
- Manage and mentor equipment engineers and maintenance technicians supporting Wafer Fab, Probe, Assembly, and Test.
- Drive continuous improvement in equipment availability, throughput, yield, reliability, cycle time, and total cost of ownership.
- Define and maintain preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies.
- Provide technical leadership for troubleshooting and resolving complex equipment failures; lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Design, test, and implement equipment upgrades, automation initiatives, and tool modifications.
- Identify and mitigate spare-parts and lifecycle risks, including supplier qualification, second sourcing, and obsolescence management.
- Support equipment procurement, installations, relocations, upgrades, and qualifications.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, PM procedures, and training materials.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, ITAR, and export control requirements.
- Manage budgets, capital planning, vendor relationships, and equipment roadmaps.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for effective performance in this role.
- 8+ years of semiconductor manufacturing experience in equipment engineering and/or maintenance focused on supporting Fab, Probe, Assembly, and Test operations.
- 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience managing engineers and/or maintenance technicians.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and electronic troubleshooting skills.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional problem solving and equipment performance improvement initiatives (root-cause analysis, corrective action implementation).
- Experience with equipment upgrades, automation projects, and tool qualification.
- Experience managing spare-parts strategy, supplier qualification, and obsolescence mitigation.
- Familiarity with safety, quality systems, and regulatory compliance (ITAR/export controls preferred).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree (BS) or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline. Equivalent industry experience, formal training, or military service may substitute for the degree.
