Responsibilities
Accountabilities for this role include leading the team and delivering validation hardware on schedule.
- Lead and grow a hardware engineering team responsible for schematics, PCB layout, fabrication, assembly, and bring-up.
- Design and optimize high-speed, high-power PCBs for SERDES and power-integrity validation.
- Run PI and SI simulations (e.g., HFSS) to predict board performance and prevent design issues before fabrication.
- Place test points, route signal paths, and prepare boards to enable efficient silicon characterization.
- Debug hardware in the lab using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, thermal cameras, and related equipment.
- Document board bring-up procedures, test protocols, and screening steps for consistent lab commissioning.
- Drive continuous improvement in design processes, test coverage, and lab infrastructure to reduce respins and improve throughput.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, management experience, and practical lab capabilities.
- 3+ years leading and managing engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
- Deep hands-on experience with the full PCB design cycle: requirements, schematic capture, layout, fabrication, assembly, and bring-up.
- Experience working with PCB fabrication houses to specify stackups and manage design-for-manufacturing constraints.
- Proficiency with PI and SI simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, or equivalent.
- Strong troubleshooting and lab debugging skills with high-speed oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and thermal imaging.
- Experience managing project timelines and coordinating cross-functional work to deliver hardware on schedule.
- Clear technical communication and documentation practices to transfer knowledge and establish design standards.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
