Job Title
Senior Engineer - Standard Cell & Characterization
Role Summary
Work on standard cell library development and characterization to support digital ASIC/SoC design flows. The role is part of an R&D engineering team based in Bengaluru and focuses on circuit-level characterization, automation of characterization flows, and collaboration with design and foundry teams.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires substantial industry experience (commonly 5+ years) in standard cell design, characterization, or related VLSI engineering roles.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities typically include:
- Develop and maintain standard cell characterization flows for timing, power, and signal integrity across process corners and operating conditions.
- Run and analyze circuit-level simulations (SPICE) and translate results into timing/power models (Liberty) and physical views (LEF).
- Automate characterization and regression tasks using scripting languages and tool integrations.
- Work with foundry PDKs, validate models, and resolve characterization or cell behavior issues.
- Collaborate with design, physical implementation, and verification teams to ensure cell library quality and signoff readiness.
- Document flows, results, and best practices; mentor junior engineers when applicable.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred skills commonly sought for this role:
-
Must-have: Practical experience with standard cell characterization and library development; hands-on with SPICE simulations and Liberty/LEF methodologies.
-
Must-have: Proficiency in scripting for automation (Python, Perl, Tcl or similar) and experience integrating EDA tools into automated flows.
-
Must-have: Familiarity with CMOS process variation, corners, and common characterization metrics (timing, power, leakage).
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with commercial characterization and timing tools and with IC physical design flows.
-
Nice-to-have: Prior experience collaborating with foundries and PDK validation.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
