Senior Engineer - STA
ArmJob Title
Senior Engineer - STA
Role Summary
Work on static timing analysis (STA) and timing signoff for SoC IP at the block/subsystem level. The role sits within the Design Engineering organization and interfaces with Physical Design, RTL/Design, DFT, and constraint teams to achieve timing closure across modes and corners.
Experience Level
Senior - the posting specifies 2β4 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties focus on timing analysis, constraint development, and closure activities.
- Develop and validate timing constraints for functional and test modes.
- Perform timing analysis and drive timing closure at block and subsystem levels.
- Analyze setup and hold violations; coordinate fixes with Physical Design and RTL/Design teams.
- Support timing ECO generation, implementation, and validation.
- Generate and review timing reports across modes and corners; debug timing/constraint issues.
- Support timing signoff activities and handoffs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Solid understanding of STA fundamentals: setup/hold, clocking, timing exceptions, and constraints.
- Hands-on experience with STA tools such as PrimeTime or Tempus.
- Basic understanding of Physical Design flow: placement, CTS, routing, and timing closure.
- Familiarity with timing ECO techniques (cell sizing, buffering, Vt swaps) and MMMC timing analysis.
- Scripting skills in TCL, Perl, or Python for automation and data analysis.
- Ability to analyze timing data, debug issues, and collaborate across PD, RTL/Design, DFT, and constraint teams.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- 2β4 years of experience in Physical Implementation, STA, or Timing Signoff.
- Nice-to-have: knowledge of advanced technology nodes.
Education Requirements
