Role Summary

Member of the R&D Engineering software development team based in Canonsburg, PA (off-site / remote eligible). Responsible for designing and delivering software components that support Synopsys research and product development.

Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define requirements, implement solutions, and maintain code quality and documentation.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 5+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

• Design, implement, and maintain software components and tools for R&D projects.
• Develop and maintain automated tests; debug and optimize code for performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and QA to define technical requirements and deliverables.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers; participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.
• Document designs, APIs, and operational procedures; support integration and deployment activities.

Requirements

Must-have:

• Proven software development experience and strong programming skills.
• Proficiency in one or more languages such as C/C++ or Python and experience with debugging and testing practices.
• Familiarity with version control, automated testing, and modern software development workflows (CI/CD).
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for remote and cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience in electronic design automation (EDA), tools development, or related engineering domains.
• Experience with distributed systems, performance optimization, or large codebases.
