Senior Engineer, Reliability Engineering
Role Summary
Join the Product Reliability Engineering team in San Jose to develop and execute reliability qualification strategies for semiconductor products, technology platforms, and manufacturing process changes. The role validates new designs and drives corrective actions to ensure product robustness and long-term field reliability.
This position may require export licensing approval for applicants who are not U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents.
Experience Level
Senior. The posting specifies a minimum of 2+ years of experience in semiconductor reliability engineering or a closely related field.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include planning, executing, and reporting reliability evaluations and driving root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Develop reliability qualification plans for new products and manufacturing process changes with R&D, design, fab and packaging teams.
- Determine failure mechanisms via FMEA/FMM and recommend appropriate reliability test methods.
- Execute reliability evaluations and stress tests (e.g., HTOL, HAST, temperature cycling); analyze results and generate qualification reports.
- Perform root-cause analysis using structured methods (e.g., 8D) and implement preventive/corrective actions.
- Present reliability data and recommendations to management and cross-functional teams.
- Maintain technical currency on semiconductor reliability methods and standards.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience follow; preferred qualifications are listed separately.
- 2+ years of experience in semiconductor reliability engineering or closely related field.
- Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics and familiarity with industry test standards (for example JEDEC, IPC).
- Proven experience with reliability test methods such as HTOL, HAST, and temperature cycling.
- Familiarity with statistical reliability models (Weibull) and data analysis tools (for example JMP).
- Strong communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 10% of the time.
Preferred:
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment.
- Experience working on cross-functional product development teams within the semiconductor industry.
- Proactive mindset, ownership, and a focus on technical rigor.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Device Physics, or a related technical discipline.
