Job Title
Senior Engineer - QEM PQE Electrical Failure Analysis
Role Summary
Senior engineer in the Quality Engineering / Product Quality Engineering (QEM PQE) group focused on electrical failure analysis (EFA) to support yield, reliability, and product qualification. Works with cross-functional teams to identify root causes, validate failure mechanisms, and implement test/process/device optimizations for manufacturing stability.
Experience Level
Senior. (No explicit years-of-experience specified.)
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include failure analysis, experiment design, and driving corrective actions to improve yield and quality.
- Perform electrical failure analysis using bench characterization to identify failure mechanisms at die, circuit, and transistor levels.
- Construct failure models and root-cause explanations for yield excursions, reliability issues, and customer returns.
- Design and execute bench DOE and probe engineering experiments to validate hypotheses and drive yield/quality improvements.
- Translate characterization results into test, process, or device optimization solutions.
- Conduct circuit and layout tracing to correlate electrical failure signatures to physical or process limitations.
- Support NPI qualification and high-volume manufacturing issue resolution to enable timely product release.
- Drive data-driven yield improvement programs in collaboration with PI, TD, PE, TSE, and YE teams.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across test conditions, probe limitations, and device-design interactions.
- Develop custom test conditions, scripts, and methodologies for advanced failure validation and experiments.
- Contribute to process capability and cost-reduction initiatives by resolving abnormal manufacturing behaviors.
Requirements
Essential skills and experience needed to perform the role.
- Proven experience performing electrical failure analysis and bench characterization at die, circuit, and transistor levels.
- Experience designing and executing bench DOEs and probe engineering experiments.
- Ability to perform circuit/layout tracing and correlate electrical signatures to physical/process causes.
- Experience translating characterization results into test, process, or device optimization actions.
- Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting complex test, probe, and device interactions.
- Experience developing custom test conditions, scripts, and advanced validation methodologies.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and drive data-driven yield improvement programs.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
