Job Title

Senior Engineer, Product Debug Team

Role Summary

As a Senior Engineer on the Product Debug team you will improve software stability for Qualcomm SoCs across the product lifecycle from pre-silicon validation through commercialization. You will perform system-level debugging, timing and performance analysis, and work with cross-functional teams to resolve complex hardware/software issues.

Experience Level

Senior. Minimum of 2+ years of software engineering or related experience (or 1+ year with a Master’s degree; PhD also accepted). Preferred background includes 1–4 years in semiconductor or embedded systems.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include debugging, stability analysis, and cross-team collaboration.

  • Investigate and resolve system/software stability issues in multi-processor Linux and multi-RTOS environments.
  • Analyze timing issues, profile performance, and recommend optimizations.
  • Use low-level debug tools and techniques (JTAG, ETM, Trace32, GDB, oscilloscopes) to identify root causes.
  • Perform code inspection, instrumentation, and log analysis to diagnose defects.
  • Participate in chip bring-up, stability scrums, and feature design discussions.
  • Develop automation and documentation to improve debug processes and reproducibility.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, test, and customer engineering teams for issue triage and resolution.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Strong knowledge of Linux internals (kernel, device drivers, memory management) and RTOS fundamentals (scheduling, synchronization).
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and practical programming experience; scripting experience (Python, Shell, Perl) for automation.
  • Experience with system-level debugging tools (GDB, Trace32) and familiarity with hardware debug probes (JTAG, oscilloscopes).
  • Experience diagnosing timing, concurrency, and inter-processor issues on embedded platforms.
  • Familiarity with ARM/Cortex/Hexagon architectures and bus systems (AHB, NoC).
  • Ability to read and instrument code, analyze logs, and communicate technical findings across teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Hands-on experience with Linux device drivers, kernel modules, DSP subsystems, or QNN model execution on DSPs.
  • Familiarity with assembly language and performance profiling for embedded DSPs.
  • Experience in semiconductor or SoC bring-up environments.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field is listed as the baseline. Alternatives accepted by the posting include a Master’s degree (with reduced experience requirement), a PhD, or equivalent academic/practical experience. (The posting specifically cites B.Tech/M.Tech as examples.)
