Job Title
Senior Engineer – Process Development, Dry Etch (NAND)
Role Summary
The Senior Engineer will lead advanced dry etch process development for 3D NAND by improving process windows, optimizing recipes, and resolving yield and quality issues. The role works within the process development team and collaborates with Process Integration and other module teams to translate technology requirements into production-ready process improvements.
Experience Level
Senior. See Education Requirements for degree-linked experience thresholds and expectations.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include development, troubleshooting, and integration of dry etch processes for NAND technology, plus documentation and knowledge transfer.
- Plan and execute advanced dry etch process development: process window analysis, recipe optimization, and tool continuous-improvement evaluation for 3D NAND.
- Troubleshoot process issues in cross-functional teams to improve yield and product quality; take ownership of assigned improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with Process Integration and other process development areas (Wet Etch, CVD/Diffusion, Metals, Lithography, CMP) to develop and integrate solutions.
- Perform root-cause and failure-mode analysis; engage vendors/suppliers to close hardware or process gaps.
- Support pilot-line execution and process transfer activities to production as required by programs.
- Drive process simplification and incorporate manufacturing best practices into early node development.
- Document experiments, results, and learnings; present progress, risks, and mitigation plans in technical forums.
- Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights where appropriate to improve efficiency or quality, following organizational standards.
Requirements
Must-have technical and interpersonal skills for effective contribution in process development and production transfer.
- Fundamental knowledge of dry etch processing and at least one related technical area such as thermodynamics, transport phenomena, kinetics, or plasma physics.
- Strong experimental discipline: design of experiments (DOE), statistics/SPC, and comfort with analysis tools.
- Demonstrated aptitude for technology development and experimental/data analysis in a dry etch or semiconductor context.
- Structured problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Proven cross-functional collaboration skills and clear written and verbal communication.
- Preferred: basic data-science knowledge or Python scripting for analysis and automation.
Education Requirements
PhD in a relevant field, or Master’s with ≥3 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s with ≥5 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
