Senior Engineer (Plating)
Role Summary
Responsible for sustaining and improving BIM (RTR) plating processes and equipment in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment. The role focuses on process stability, yield improvement, transfer of new technologies to High Volume Manufacturing (HVM), and cross-functional collaboration.
Experience Level
Senior - minimum 5 years in semiconductor manufacturing, with at least 3 years focused on plating or wet processes.
Responsibilities
Drive and support plating operations to maintain high yield and throughput while introducing new processes and equipment into production.
- Own and sustain BIM (RTR) plating processes and equipment for stable, high-yield production.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives targeting yield, quality, throughput (UPH), and cost reduction.
- Identify and eliminate process variations using structured, data-driven analysis.
- Lead Lot-On-Hold (LOH) disposition and provide strong floor support to manufacturing operations.
- Coordinate qualification and transfers with Equipment, R&D, NPI, QA, and Product teams.
- Maintain and update SOPs, control plans, FMEAs, and process specifications.
- Manage supplier coordination for equipment, chemicals, fixtures, and spare parts.
- Mentor technicians and support 24/7 operations through task planning and coverage.
- Ensure compliance with EHS and chemical handling standards.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for this role.
- Minimum 5 years in semiconductor manufacturing, with at least 3 years in plating or wet processes.
- Hands-on experience with semiconductor plating equipment; experience with MECO plating lines is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of plating process fundamentals, chemical interactions, and defect troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with statistical analysis tools such as JMP or Minitab.
- Proven track record in yield improvement and process optimization projects.
- Excellent technical documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience with BIM / RTR plating lines preferred; exposure to advanced packaging is a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering required (Chemical Engineering preferred).
