Job Title

Senior Engineer, PD, CVD/Diffusion

Role Summary

Micron's Singapore Process Development (PD) group in Technology Development is seeking a Senior Engineer to develop and optimize Plasma-CVD and Diffusion thin-film processes for advanced NAND Flash technology. The role covers process development, characterization, transfer to manufacturing, troubleshooting, and collaboration with integration, metrology, failure analysis, yield, manufacturing, and equipment vendors.

The position is R&D-focused, may require business-related travel, and can include weekend or off-shift support for the pilot/manufacturing line.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typically requires more than five years of relevant process development experience; the role often supports pilot/manufacturing lines and may require off-shift or weekend work.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing, characterizing, and delivering thin-film processes and supporting their transfer and sustainment in the fab.

  • Design, develop, and deliver Plasma-CVD or Diffusion process packages to meet product specifications and program timelines.
  • Characterize films and processes using SEM, TEM, XPS, SIMS, AFM, and related techniques.
  • Design and run experiments, analyze data, and present results to technical forums.
  • Support R&D pilot line operations and manage pilot/manufacturing lots through process modules.
  • Improve process maturity and capability; sustain processes under ownership in the fab.
  • Lead root-cause defect analysis and unique failure-mode investigations.
  • Work with Process Integration to develop recipes meeting structural and electrical requirements and to deliver advanced technology nodes.
  • Manage wafers through thin-film levels to support special requirements and multi-functional development.
  • Serve as a resource for peers on recipe and process development; collaborate with cross-functional teams for yield and failure analysis.

Requirements

Key technical skills and practical experience required for successful execution of the role.

  • Understanding of transport phenomena, electromagnetics, atomic/molecular physics, and surface phenomena.
  • Practical troubleshooting, experiment build, and data-analysis skills in an R&D or process-development setting.
  • Plasma physics background and familiarity with plasma sources used in plasma CVD or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of CVD and Diffusion deposition processing principles and thin-film behavior.
  • Basic knowledge of process control principles and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Understanding of solid-state devices and their process-related failure modes.
  • Experience with advanced data analysis techniques and scripting; strong computer skills including MS Office.
  • Willingness to work off shift and weekends when necessary.

Education Requirements

PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field; OR a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field accompanied by more than 5 years of relevant CVD/Diffusion experience. "Related field" and equivalent practical experience are acceptable as stated in the posting.
