Job Title
Senior Engineer, IPDev Layout
Role Summary
Senior Layout Design Engineer on the DPG-IPDEV team responsible for developing analog and mixed-signal IP used in Micron DRAM products. The role focuses on block-level and chip-integration layout for high-performance applications such as AI, HPC, and High Bandwidth Memory.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience: 5 to 8 years in analog/custom layout for advanced CMOS processes (planar, FinFET).
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality physical layouts and support full-chip integration and verification across multiple projects.
- Design and develop analog, mixed-signal and custom digital block layouts; support full-chip integration.
- Perform layout verification tasks including LVS, DRC, antenna checks and quality assurance.
- Estimate area/time, plan schedules, and execute to meet project milestones across concurrent projects.
- Coordinate and communicate with global engineering teams to ensure layout project success.
- Produce documentation and handoff-ready layouts on schedule.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 5 to 8 years' experience in analog/custom layout for advanced CMOS technologies.
- Expertise with Cadence VLE/VXL and Mentor Graphics Calibre DRC/LVS.
- Hands-on experience creating layouts for critical blocks (PLL, ADC, DAC, LDO, bandgap, charge pump, current mirrors, comparators, differential amplifiers, temperature sensors, reference generators).
- Strong understanding of analog layout fundamentals: matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling, crosstalk, IR-drop, device parasitics.
- Ability to assess layout effects on circuit speed, capacitance, power and area; implement build constraints and high-quality layouts.
- Familiarity with memory design architectures and build hierarchies for integration.
- Excellent problem-solving skills in physical verification of custom layouts and strong verbal/written communication.
- Proactive in exploring and leveraging AI-related tools in day-to-day tasks.
- Nice-to-have: experience supporting multiple tape-outs.
Education Requirements
