Senior Engineer II - Digital Verification
Role Summary
Senior engineer responsible for planning and executing functional verification of digital ASIC/SoC blocks. Works with design teams to develop verification strategies, implement testbenches, run simulation and debug failures, and ensure coverage and quality targets are met.
Member of a verification engineering team; expected to provide technical leadership on verification methodology and mentor junior engineers.
Experience Level
Senior level. Typical expectation: experienced engineer (commonly 5+ years) in digital verification or equivalent industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include development and execution of verification plans and infrastructure.
- Develop verification plans and define verification scope and metrics.
- Design and implement SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches and verification IP.
- Create directed tests, constrained-random stimulus, assertions, and checkers.
- Run simulations, debug RTL and testbench issues, and root-cause failures.
- Develop and maintain regression suites and coverage-driven verification flows.
- Collaborate with RTL designers, architects, and CAD to resolve issues and close coverage holes.
- Mentor junior verification engineers and contribute to verification methodology improvements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; concise list of expected competencies.
- Proven experience in digital verification of ASIC or SoC blocks.
- Strong SystemVerilog and UVM knowledge and hands-on testbench implementation.
- Experience with industry simulators and verification tools (e.g., Synopsys VCS, Mentor/Siemens Questa, Cadence Xcelium).
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, Perl, Shell) for automation and regression management.
- Ability to debug RTL and verification environment failures and perform root-cause analysis.
- Good understanding of RTL design, timing concepts, and common digital IP (AXI, AHB, etc.).
- Effective communication skills and experience collaborating across design and verification teams.
- Nice-to-have: experience with formal verification, emulation, or hardware-assisted verification platforms.
