Job Title

Senior Engineer I - Design (MEMS)

Role Summary

Design and develop MEMS timing devices from concept through production. Work on device design, simulation, characterization, test automation, qualification, and production support while collaborating with cross-functional and multi-site teams (MEMS, ASIC design, process, assembly, test, quality, and product engineering).

Position supports development and sustainment of high-performance timing products for a range of applications; occasional travel (0–25%).

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting specifies approximately 5 years of relevant engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include device design, evaluation, and production support.

  • Design, characterize, and analyze MEMS resonators and related devices.
  • Perform simulations, lab evaluations, debugging, characterization, and root-cause analysis.
  • Participate across the full product lifecycle: concept, design, qualification, release, and production support.
  • Develop and maintain test software and automation for lab characterization and production testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and multi-site teams to bring products to market.
  • Report technical findings, project status, risks, and opportunities to project and engineering leadership.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and attributes.

  • Minimum ~5 years of relevant engineering experience in MEMS or related technologies.
  • Understanding of MEMS design and device fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation, or engineering tasks.
  • Experience with laboratory characterization, debugging, and root-cause analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Able to work independently and contribute effectively to cross-functional teams across multiple sites.
  • Preferred (nice-to-have): experience with COMSOL, MATLAB, Cadence, LabVIEW, large-scale test data analysis, statistical or machine-learning models, and familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing and wafer-level processing.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field. Preferred: Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or technical discipline. (Source explicitly lists Bachelor's and Master’s as required and Ph.D. as preferred.)
