Role Summary

Design, develop, and validate embedded software for Microchip 8-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers, focusing on application-specific product development from concept to implementation readiness. Work within cross-functional teams including silicon design, system architecture, firmware, security, QA, and functional safety to deliver production-quality embedded solutions.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded systems development, semiconductor or electronic product development, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include software development, architecture collaboration, and ensuring products meet safety and security standards.

  • Develop, test, and validate embedded software for 8-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers using C/C++.
  • Drive early Application Specific Software Product from concept through implementation readiness.
  • Embed secure-by-design methodologies and align implementations with Cyber Resilience Act and industry security standards.
  • Collaborate with QA and Functional Safety experts to support compliance with ASPICE, ISO 26262, or equivalent quality/safety requirements.
  • Work with silicon design, system architecture, firmware, and security teams to make cohesive architectural decisions.
  • Support architectural trade-off analysis for performance, power, safety, and security.
  • Participate in technical reviews, risk assessments, and test planning.
  • Produce and maintain documentation, specifications, and design guidelines.
  • Travel: up to 25%.
  • Typical physical activity: primarily desk work (approximately 80% sitting, 10% walking, 10% standing).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and workplace capabilities.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in embedded systems development, semiconductor or electronic product development, or similar domains.
  • Hands-on programming experience in C/C++ and Python; able to produce production-quality or prototype-level code.
  • Strong experience with microcontrollers and application-specific software products.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-disciplinary, fast-paced environments and influence technical direction across teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proven knowledge of secure-by-design concepts, threat modeling, and hardware security fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience or solid understanding of Functional Safety (FuSa) requirements and standards.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in those fields is preferred.
