Senior Engineer - HIG HBM Layout
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Senior Engineer - HIG HBM Layout
Role Summary
Join the HBM layout team in Guadalajara to design and deliver high-quality custom and mixed-signal layouts for High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) used in AI and high-performance computing applications. The role works across Micron’s global engineering teams on multiple concurrent projects.
Primary mission: produce robust, manufacturable block- and chip-level layouts on schedule and mentor other layout engineers.
Experience Level
Senior level. Minimum guidance: 7+ years of experience in analog/custom layout design in advanced CMOS processes (planar and FinFET).
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include hands-on layout work, verification, project execution, and team coordination.
- Design and develop critical analog, mixed-signal, custom-digital blocks and support full-chip integration.
- Perform physical verification tasks (LVS/DRC/antenna checks), quality assurance, and documentation of layouts.
- Deliver block-level layouts on schedule with acceptable quality for tape-out.
- Plan and estimate area/time, schedule tasks, delegate work, and drive execution across multiple projects.
- Review and guide junior and peer layout engineers on sub-block layouts and implementation details.
- Communicate effectively with global engineering teams to ensure layout objectives are met.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- 7+ years' experience in analog/custom layout design in advanced CMOS processes (planar and FinFET).
- Proven expertise with Cadence VLE/VXL and Mentor Graphics Calibre (DRC/LVS).
- Hands-on experience creating layouts for critical analog blocks such as temperature sensors, PLLs, ADCs, DACs, LDOs, bandgaps, reference generators, charge pumps, current mirrors, comparators, differential amplifiers.
- Solid knowledge of analog layout fundamentals: matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling, crosstalk, IR drop, and parasitics.
- Understanding of how layout impacts circuit metrics (speed, capacitance, power, area) and ability to implement constraints accordingly.
- Ability to produce high-quality layouts and meet project schedules in a multi-project environment.
- Effective communicator and collaborator with distributed engineering teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience supporting multiple tape-outs and managing several layout projects concurrently.
- Advanced problem-solving skills in physical verification of custom layouts.
Education Requirements
BE or MTech in Electronics/VLSI Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
