Role Summary

The Field Application Engineer (FAE) works with customers using GF Power technologies (BCD and leading-edge processes such as 22FDX and FinFET) to assess technical requirements, recommend GF solutions, and drive design wins through to tapeout.

The role collaborates with account managers, product marketing, and internal technical experts to convert opportunities into revenue and to remove technical barriers to customer adoption.

Experience Level

Senior β€” minimum 5 years of semiconductor design, tapeout, and process experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include customer engagement, technical advocacy, and cross-functional coordination to enable product tapeout.

  • Engage with customers to understand technical requirements for their IC products and recommend suitable GF technology solutions.
  • Assess competitors and articulate GF value propositions that address customer needs.
  • Create application-specific technical presentations and proposals with account managers and product marketing.
  • Merge technical and commercial terms with account teams to form design-winning proposals.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues to convert design wins into tapeouts.
  • Advocate internally for product and process improvements when competitive gaps are identified.
  • Perform work in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.
  • Travel up to 20%, primarily domestic with some international travel.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and attributes; preferred items listed separately.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in semiconductor design, tapeout, and process.
  • Working knowledge of IC chip design flows and EDA tools from architecture through performance characterization for BCD and leading-edge technologies (e.g., 22FDX, FinFET).
  • Technical program management experience; strong ownership, problem solving, and execution skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to combine technical and commercial considerations into proposals.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in RF design, digital/analog mixed-signal, high-voltage power, eNVM, or millimeter-wave IC product design.
  • SoC integration and module-level product design experience.
  • Advanced project management and planning skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (for example, Applied Physics); Master's or PhD preferred. The posting allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree.
