Senior Engineer, Emulation

Role Summary

The Emulation Engineer will build and maintain emulation environments and testbenches, run emulation tests, diagnose failures, and support cross-functional debug until issues are resolved. The role works closely with design, verification and software teams to accelerate bring-up and validation of complex SoC designs.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include preparing designs for emulation, executing tests, and performing first-pass debug and triage.

  • Prepare and adapt RTL/design for emulation platforms; run emulation regressions and capture failure data.
  • Locate failure points, capture waveforms, and perform initial triage to isolate root causes.
  • Develop, maintain, and extend emulation testbench components, including custom IP and AVIP.
  • Collaborate with design, verification, and software teams to support detailed debug activities.
  • Develop and maintain scalable automation and scripting to be reused across product lines.
  • Analyze emulator internals and configurations to improve debug strategies, performance, and resource utilization.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.

  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with emulation platforms such as Veloce, Zebu, or Palladium.
  • Must-have: Strong scripting skills (Python, TCL, Bash, Makefile).
  • Must-have: Strong debugging skills across CPU-internal, integration, emulator configuration/synthesis, scripting, and Linux-related issues.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of AMBA interconnects (AHB/APB/AXI) and how IPs integrate (bridges, tie-offs, clocks, resets).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with RISC-V assembly and Linux kernel internals.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with revision control systems such as Perforce and Git.
