Senior Engineer - Electrical Failure Analysis (NTI)
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Senior Engineer - Electrical Failure Analysis (NTI)
Role Summary
Senior engineer on the NAND Technology Integration (NTI) team responsible for diagnosing yield-limiting failures in next-generation NAND products. Combine electrical bench testing, probe data analysis, physical failure analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to identify root causes and drive corrective actions into manufacturing.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires proven semiconductor industry experience in failure analysis, process integration, yield enhancement, or related roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include hands-on failure analysis, data correlation, method development, and technical communication.
- Lead electrical failure analysis: characterization, fault isolation, failure verification, and physical de-processing.
- Perform root-cause analysis by correlating electrical, inline, parametric, probe, and fab data.
- Develop and pioneer new FA methodologies and de-processing techniques to reduce turnaround time and improve detection accuracy.
- Apply data analytics to large semiconductor datasets to surface failure signatures, trends, and anomalies.
- Produce clear FA reports and visualizations for technical and executive audiences.
- Collaborate with Process Integration, Yield Enhancement, Metrology, RDA, and Data Science teams to implement yield improvements.
- Support technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing and present findings in global forums.
- Incorporate AI-driven methods where useful to streamline workflows and enable data-driven decisions.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, domain knowledge, and professional attributes.
- Proven semiconductor industry experience in Failure Analysis, Process Integration, Yield Enhancement, or Unit Process.
- In-depth knowledge of nonvolatile memory technologies (NAND/NOR) and semiconductor process–device interactions.
- Hands-on or theoretical expertise with SEM, FIB, TEM, and elemental analysis (EDS, EELS).
- Strong data-analysis skills applied to large datasets and familiarity with extracting failure signatures and trends.
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills; able to translate complex findings into clear narratives and presentations.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Experience applying AI or machine-learning techniques to streamline workflows and support decision-making is desirable.
Education Requirements
M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
