Job Title

Senior Engineer, Digital Design Engineering

Role Summary

ADI's Aerospace and Defense Sensors, Subsystems & Space unit is hiring a senior digital design engineer to develop FPGA/ASIC-based modules and subsystems for electronic warfare, RF communications, and phased-array radar systems. The role covers RTL and schematic design, simulation and analysis, interface validation, and cross-functional collaboration through research, design, and production phases.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Posting specifies 5+ years of relevant digital design engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on FPGA-centric digital hardware and high-speed digital interface design for defense and communications applications.

  • Develop FPGA-based designs for digital data and control paths using ADI high-speed converters; produce schematics, RTL, simulations, and perform interface validation.
  • Design, implement, and validate high-speed digital interfaces (examples: 100 GigE, Aurora, PCIe) and support bring-up and testing.
  • Contribute to architecture and detailed design of FPGA-centric digital hardware for EW, RF communications, and phased-array systems.
  • Work with test, manufacturing engineering, program management, and business stakeholders across program phases from research through production.
  • Debug hardware issues and optimize designs for signal integrity and isolation.
  • Travel as required (approximately 10%).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, legal eligibility, and operational requirements.

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • RTL design experience (Verilog or VHDL), simulation, and timing closure in large FPGAs.
  • PCB design experience including part selection, schematic capture, debug, and optimization.
  • High-speed interface design and bring-up/testing experience (e.g., 100 GigE, Aurora, PCIe).
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Allegro, PADS).
  • Familiarity with high-speed PCB layout techniques and signal integrity best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with DOD radar, electronic warfare, or RF communications algorithms.
  • Familiarity with C#, Python, C/C++, or TCL.
  • Familiarity with RF systems and experience with DC power tree designs and voltage sequencing.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field - or equivalent practical experience.
