Senior Engineer - DFT
Role Summary
Join Qualcomm's Hardware Engineering team to design, verify, test and bring up electronic systems and circuits with a focus on design-for-test (DFT) and related hardware engineering activities. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams (design, verification, validation, software, systems, architecture) to meet product performance, yield, and quality targets.
Experience Level
Senior - technical individual contributor with supervisory/mentoring responsibilities. Typical experience guidance is shown under Education Requirements (minimum experience varies by degree; preferred 5+ years of hardware engineering experience).
Responsibilities
Work independently on hardware designs and take technical ownership for verification, characterization, and production bring-up.
- Plan, optimize, verify, and test electronic systems, circuits, and related hardware (Digital/Analog/RF/optical, FPGA, DSP, packaging, test systems).
- Integrate features into hardware designs and perform simulations and analyses to optimize power, performance, and area.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement requirements and improve yield, test time, and product quality.
- Evaluate and develop manufacturing and reliability solutions for advanced-process products and support product bring-up to meet schedules.
- Introduce automation and optimization to improve productivity and write detailed technical documentation.
- Provide guidance to other team members and participate in decision-making that affects work beyond the immediate group.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
- Proven hardware engineering experience (see Education Requirements for years guidance tied to degree).
- Experience with circuit design (digital, analog, or RF) and schematic capture/circuit simulation tools.
- Proficiency with hardware measurement and debug instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools, etc.).
- Experience in manufacturing characterization, yield improvement, and production test methodologies.
- Ability to perform complex simulations and analyses and translate results into implementation decisions.
- Technical leadership experience (mentoring or informal leadership); verbal and written communication skills.
- Nice-to-have: experience with automation for hardware validation and familiarity with DFT methodologies and ATPG tools.
Education Requirements
Degree required: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience alternatives: Bachelor's + 3+ years hardware engineering experience, Master's + 2+ years, or PhD + 1+ year. Preferred: Master's degree and 5+ years of hardware engineering experience. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of degrees.
