Job Title

Senior Engineer - DFT

Role Summary

Member of the Hardware Engineering team based in Bengaluru responsible for design-for-test (DFT) implementation and verification for SoC IP and chip-level deliverables. The role focuses on DFT insertion, test strategies, silicon debug, and integration with verification and validation flows.

Experience Level

Senior — posting indicates 4–8 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing and validating on-chip test infrastructure and supporting silicon bring-up and diagnostics.

  • Design and implement scan insertion and compression schemes.
  • Develop and validate memory BIST and repair strategies; handle memory diagnostics.
  • Implement logic BIST, JTAG/IJTAG and at-speed test solutions.
  • Run ATPG, fault simulation, and back-annotated gate-level verification.
  • Support silicon debug, root-cause analysis and scan/memory failure diagnostics.
  • Develop scripts and RTL as required (Verilog, TCL, Perl) and work in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Collaborate with SoC architects and verification teams to integrate DFT into multi-clock and low-power designs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; followed by concise nice-to-have items.

  • 4–8 years of experience in DFT or related chip test roles.
  • Hands-on experience with scan insertion/compression, ATPG, fault simulation, and gate-level verification.
  • Experience with silicon debug and memory/scan diagnostics.
  • Verilog RTL coding experience and scripting proficiency (TCL and/or Perl).
  • Comfortable in Unix/Linux development and tool environments.

Nice-to-have

  • Familiarity with IEEE 1149, 1500, 1687, 1838 standards.
  • Experience with synthesis, static timing analysis, and SoC-level multi-clock/low-power design practices.
  • Experience with Siemens, Cadence, and/or Synopsys DFT and simulation tools; validated understanding of Siemens DFT tools.
  • Familiarity with Arm IP (Cortex CPUs, Mali GPUs, AMBA, CoreLink, CoreSight) and 2.5D/3D test techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams; good time management.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
