Senior Engineer - DFT
QualcommJob Title
Senior Engineer - DFT
Role Summary
The Senior DFT Engineer will design, implement, verify and debug design-for-test (DFT) features for ASIC/SoC projects. The role sits within Qualcomm's Hardware Engineering organization and collaborates with RTL, physical design, validation and silicon bring-up teams to ensure chip testability and yield.
Experience Level
Senior - minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in DFT, ATPG, scan insertion and MBIST.
Responsibilities
Contribute to DFT strategy and execution across design and silicon stages.
- Plan and implement scan insertion, MBIST and other DFT constructs into RTL/physical flows.
- Generate and verify ATPG patterns and simulate test vectors for digital blocks.
- Perform MBIST verification and support post-silicon bring-up and yield analysis.
- Define test-mode timing constraints and propose corrective timing fixes for violations.
- Develop tests for custom RAMs and new technologies; analyze and devise new test approaches.
- Automate flows and tools using scripting (Perl, shell) and run equivalence/lint checks (e.g., SpyGlass).
- Coordinate with cross-functional and international teams; support multiple concurrent high-priority designs.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Minimum 3+ years' experience in DFT, ATPG, scan insertion and MBIST.
- In-depth knowledge of DFT concepts and hands-on experience with scan/MBIST insertion and ATPG pattern generation/verification.
- Experience with MBIST verification, post-silicon bring-up and yield analysis.
- Experience defining test-mode timing constraints and providing timing fixes.
- Scripting skills (Perl, shell) and experience automating test/verification flows.
- Experience simulating test vectors and familiarity with equivalence check and RTL lint tools (e.g., SpyGlass).
- Strong problem solving, ability to adapt to new tools/methodologies, and capability to multitask across projects.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field is required.
