Job Title

Senior Engineer, Design Evaluation Engineering

Role Summary

Design and deliver evaluation test hardware and software for high-performance analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits. Work with design, layout, application, and failure-analysis teams to characterize, qualify, and support products from wafer probe through packaged units.

Role includes partial telecommute (up to 2 days/week) and focuses on test automation, PCB-based evaluation fixtures, and correlating test results with design simulations and production test programs.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting requires at least 12 months of relevant experience as a Design Evaluation Engineer or in a related role; title and responsibilities indicate senior expectations.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include development, debugging, and support of evaluation test solutions and processes.

  • Design and develop evaluation test hardware and software for characterization and qualification of analog/mixed-signal ICs in wafer probe and package environments.
  • Create evaluation test schematics and coordinate PCB layout with layout engineers.
  • Develop and debug test programs that correlate evaluation results to design simulations and production tests.
  • Define evaluation test methodologies, test plans, and test modes with design engineers.
  • Support application teams (local and offshore) and assist failure analysis and customer returns investigations.
  • Participate in new product development and evaluate new test systems for future applications.
  • Manage project schedules to align test delivery with product introduction and release dates.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience derived from the posting. Degree requirements are summarized separately in Education Requirements below.

  • Minimum 12 months experience automating tests using lab equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and temperature chambers.
  • Proven programming ability to automate test hardware using C#, C++, Visual Studio, or Python.
  • Experience with PCB schematic capture and layout tools (examples: OrCAD, Cadence Allegro) for hardware design.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) for data analysis and reporting.
  • Practical knowledge of signal processing techniques and analog/digital conversion to validate datasheet electrical specifications.
  • Ability to debug test programs and correlate results to design simulations and production tests.
  • Preferred: experience supporting wafer probe and packaged device test environments, and working with failure analysis teams.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant technical discipline is required; foreign education equivalents are accepted. The posting also specifies at least 12 months of experience as a Design Evaluation Engineer or related occupation. No specific certifications were listed.
