Job Title

Senior Engineer, Design Evaluation Engineering

Role Summary

The Senior Engineer develops evaluation test hardware and software for high-performance analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs) across wafer probe and packaged-device environments. The role collaborates with design, application, failure-analysis and production teams to define test methodologies, create evaluation fixtures and PCBs, automate measurements, and ensure devices meet datasheet and qualification requirements.

Works within the Design Evaluation Engineering organization and participates in new-product introduction, customer-return analysis, and cross-functional project planning. Partial telecommute: approximately two days per week work from home.

Experience Level

Senior — the posting specifies experience as a Design Evaluation Engineer. Required: 12 months of experience as a Design Evaluation Engineer or in a closely related role automating tests with lab equipment.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include hands-on development and support of IC evaluation solutions and coordination with cross-functional teams.

  • Design, develop, and debug evaluation test hardware and software for characterization and qualification in wafer probe and packaged environments.
  • Create evaluation test schematics and coordinate PCB layout with layout engineers.
  • Develop and debug automated test programs; correlate evaluation results to design simulations and production test programs.
  • Define evaluation test methodologies, test plans, and test modes with design engineers.
  • Use lab instruments (network and spectrum analyzers, signal generators, temperature chambers) to perform characterization and validation.
  • Support application teams (local and offshore), customer returns, and Failure Analysis investigations.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) teams and evaluate new test systems for future products.
  • Manage project schedules aligned with product introduction and release dates.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience for this role.

  • Minimum: 12 months of experience as a Design Evaluation Engineer or equivalent role automating tests with lab equipment.
  • Demonstrated expertise programming to automate test hardware: C#, C++, Python, or similar (Visual Studio experience noted).
  • Demonstrated expertise using PCB schematic capture and layout tools such as OrCAD or Cadence Allegro.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) for data analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in signal processing and analog/digital conversion; ability to guarantee data-sheet electrical specifications through measurement and analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with lab test equipment: Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, and environmental chambers.
  • No required travel for this role; 1st shift / daytime schedule.

Education Requirements

Required: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant technical discipline; employer will accept equivalent foreign education. (The posting specifies acceptance of foreign education equivalency.)
