Senior Engineer, Design Enablement (PDK)

Role Summary

As a Senior Design Enablement Engineer on the Design Enablement team in Sofia you will develop and test design components (LVS/PERC) for Process Design Kits (PDKs) that support semiconductor technologies used across FD-SOI, RF, high-voltage and automotive applications.

You will work with design and process teams to validate PDK components, improve verification flows, and ensure reliable EDA tool integrations. Specialized training is provided.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Develop and test PDK design components (LVS/PERC) to meet process and design-rule requirements.
  • Create and maintain verification flows, test cases, and documentation for PDK sign-off.
  • Use EDA tools and CAD flows to validate layout and schematic environments.
  • Debug technical issues, reproduce defects, and drive corrective actions with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with process engineers, designers and cross-functional teams to resolve integration issues.
  • Automate verification and testing via scripting where appropriate.

Requirements

Must have:

  • 2+ years of work experience in the semiconductor and/or EDA industries.
  • Excellent technical problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent English (written and verbal) and effective teamwork/interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, well organized, and attentive to detail.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of electronic devices and semiconductor theory.
  • Experience with CAD systems (e.g., Cadence IC/Virtuoso, OrCAD) and EDA verification tools.
  • Experience with scripting languages (Perl, Python, Tcl, Bash) and Unix/Linux environments.
  • Exposure to Skill programming or other Cadence customization.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Physics, Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
