Job Title
Senior Engineer, DEMQRA Compute RMA
Role Summary
Responsible for managing electrical and physical failure analysis (FA) of customer-returned DRAM components and modules, identifying root causes, and coordinating corrective actions with engineering and manufacturing teams.
Works across test, lab, product engineering, and manufacturing groups; summarizes and communicates FA results to customers and internal stakeholders and performs hands-on electrical and physical characterization using industry test equipment and analysis tools.
Experience Level
Senior-level. No specific years-of-experience requirement stated in the posting.
Responsibilities
Primary duties focus on leading FA activities, analyzing failures, and communicating results to customers and internal teams.
- Manage and oversee failure analysis of customer complaints, including bench-level, system-level, and ATE-level analysis.
- Initiate contact with customers or internal representatives to clarify failing conditions and test requirements.
- Coordinate component-level electrical (EFA) and physical (PFA) analyses and interpret results to determine root cause.
- Analyze failed modules/components: review historical test results, adjust timing/levels/test modes/temperature to characterize sensitivities, and perform visual inspections.
- Use schematics, layouts, and process information to identify abnormalities and categorize electrical failures.
- Coordinate additional analyses with specialized groups (e.g., C-SAM, PYE, Product Engineering, Package Reliability, AQL).
- Prepare interim and final FA reports for customers, summarize findings, containment actions, and risk assessments.
- Review and follow up on corrective actions from manufacturing; translate technical results into customer-facing summaries.
- Provide lab support and training: assist with equipment setup, teach equipment operation, and conduct on-the-job training for new staff.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and capabilities; educational degree requirements are listed separately below.
- Proven ability to perform and interpret electrical and physical failure analysis for semiconductor memory products.
- Familiarity with DRAM functionality, device characteristics, test programs, and relevant manufacturing/process concepts.
- Hands-on experience with test equipment and analysis tools (examples in posting: uMate testers, ATE testers, CAD/layout tools).
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, layouts, and technical drawings.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills for customer-facing reports and cross-functional coordination.
- Ability to manage multiple customer issues concurrently and provide timely follow-up across internal teams.
- Experience performing visual inspections, documenting failed conditions, and categorizing electrical failures.
- Comfort chairing meetings and presenting technical results to customers and internal stakeholders.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with compute, laptop, or server OEMs and system-level debug, CPU or DRAM field application engineering (FAE).
Education Requirements
Minimum of a master’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Microelectronics, Electrical Engineering, Solid State Electronics, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field. The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in lieu of the degree.
