The role involves implementing numerical methods, using FEA tools, applying level set methods for CAD/meshing, exploring ML integrations, and collaborating with cross-functional and distributed teams.
Experience Level
Senior β guidance provided: typically 5+ years of modeling experience with a Master's degree, or 3+ years with a Ph.D.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement constitutive and thermo-mechanical models for solid mechanics applications.
- Perform finite-element analysis and simulations using commercial FEA tools.
- Apply level set methods for CAD preparation, meshing, design-of-experiments, analysis and rendering.
- Integrate numerical methods and scientific computing into modeling workflows; apply ML/AI techniques where appropriate.
- Debug simulations, identify root causes, and improve model fidelity and robustness.
- Prepare technical reports and conference papers; present results to engineering stakeholders.
- Collaborate with distributed teams using remote collaboration tools.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred qualifications:
-
Must-have: Proven ability to execute projects independently and maintain documentation.
-
Must-have: Strong teamwork and written/verbal communication skills; experience producing technical reports.
-
Must-have: Experience with numerical methods and scientific computing.
-
Must-have: Strong background in constitutive modeling in solid mechanics.
-
Must-have: Experience with FEA tools; familiarity with Abaqus or ANSYS.
-
Must-have: Advanced skills in level set method (LSM) for CAD, meshing and analysis.
-
Must-have: Strong debugging and problem-solving ability.
-
Nice-to-have: Familiarity with machine learning/deep learning concepts and experience employing AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot).
-
Nice-to-have: Background in the semiconductor industry.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. in Applied Mechanics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or related engineering/physics fields. The posting specifies 5+ years of modeling experience with a Master's degree, or 3+ years with a Ph.D.
