Job Title

Senior Embedded System Software Engineer – Platform Execution Lead

Role Summary

The Platform Execution Lead drives SoC and platform bring-up for NVIDIA edge AI products from prototype through high-volume production. This role combines hands-on low-level Linux and firmware engineering with technical program leadership across hardware, silicon, board, validation, and manufacturing teams.

Experience Level

Senior — requires substantial experience; the posting requests 12+ years of relevant software development experience.

Responsibilities

Own and coordinate end-to-end platform software delivery and execution for edge AI systems.

  • Lead SoC and board/platform bring-up from early prototypes to production; define execution plans, success criteria, and schedules.
  • Define and drive the Linux system software roadmap for edge devices, prioritizing deliverables and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Develop and debug low-level system software: bootloaders, firmware, BSPs, kernel, device drivers, and reference images.
  • Run execution and bring-up reviews, track issues/risks, and provide clear status and escalation paths.
  • Collaborate with hardware, silicon, board build, validation, and factory teams to root-cause HW/SW interactions and close issues.
  • Design and implement factory test, provisioning, automation, and diagnostic tools to support high-volume manufacturing.
  • Analyze lab, factory, and field logs/data to improve stability, reliability, and test strategies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and establish guidelines for bring-up, debugging, documentation, and project tracking.

Requirements

Key must-have skills and experience for the role.

  • 12+ years of relevant embedded/system software development experience.
  • Proven experience managing SoC or complex board/platform bring-up in a technical lead role across multiple hardware revisions.
  • Expert Linux system and kernel development skills; strong C/C++ experience and familiarity with device drivers, BSPs, and boot sequence.
  • Deep understanding of CPU/SoC architectures, memory and power subsystems, and high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR) for edge systems.
  • Hands-on hardware-aware debugging experience with JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, or in-circuit debuggers.
  • Experience with factory and manufacturing processes (ATE, system-level tests) and provisioning/programming flows for embedded devices.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, shell) for tooling, data analysis, and test workflows.
  • Demonstrated project and program management ability: execution plans, issue tracking, dashboards, schedule and risk ownership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present technical and program status to engineering teams and leadership.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with NVIDIA GPUs/SoCs, Jetson, or similar edge AI platforms in production.
  • Prior role as a platform software execution lead or technical program manager combining hands-on engineering with delivery responsibility.
  • Experience with platform validation, reliability testing, secure boot, OTA firmware updates, and factory security/provisioning.
  • Contributions to tools or frameworks for hardware bring-up, diagnostics, automated test systems, or CI/CD dashboards.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
