Senior EDA Design Automation Engineer - Digital Implementation
Intel CorporationJob Title
Senior EDA Design Automation Engineer - Digital Implementation
Role Summary
Develop and maintain EDA tool flows and design automation for digital implementation and sign-off, supporting RTL-to-GDS front-end and back-end processes for advanced technology nodes. Work within the Intel Foundry team to enable reference flows, PDKs, and IP integration, and collaborate with EDA vendors to optimize toolchains for Intel platforms.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting specifies a minimum of 8 years' relevant experience for candidates with a Bachelor's degree.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include delivering and improving design automation flows and verifying hardware and tool integrations.
- Architect and implement EDA tool flows for digital implementation and sign-off, covering RTL-to-GDS flows.
- Develop, test, and verify hardware designs and integrate components into hierarchical systems to ensure end-to-end tool coverage.
- Deliver disciplined flow development to meet tight milestones for advanced nodes.
- Collaborate with external EDA vendors to enable and optimize reference flows for Intel technologies.
- Enhance tools, scripts, and platforms to improve productivity, power, and performance outcomes.
- Analyze and refine methodologies to support technology transitions and new node enablement.
- Build and apply expertise in digital design, verification, layout, full-chip integration, clocking, and timing to improve flows.
- Provide strategic input on EDA industry trends and drive initiatives to advance hardware design environments.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Extensive experience developing EDA tools, flows, or design environments for digital and/or analog designs.
- Proficiency with physical design flows, IP integration, and packaging technologies.
- Strong programming and scripting skills on UNIX platforms (Python, Perl, TCL).
- Experience with design flow automation, source control systems, and compute/cloud infrastructure for EDA workloads.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving capabilities and the ability to verify complex tool integrations.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with automated SoC design methodologies and analog/mixed-signal workflows (e.g., Cadence Genus, Innovus).
- Experience deploying features for revision control, continuous integration, and design data management.
- Prior collaboration with EDA vendors to enable flows on target process platforms.
- Ability to translate industry trends into tool and methodology roadmaps.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field. The posting specifies that candidates with a Bachelor's degree should have a minimum of 8 years' experience in EDA tool/flow development.
