Senior Director, Product Management

Role Summary

Lead definition and execution of Renesas' next-generation MPU platform strategy, including family architecture, derivative/segmentation strategy, and multi-year roadmap across Industrial, Physical AI/robotics, multi-modal AI, and general-purpose embedded markets.

Build and run a Platform team of IP planners and solution definers, partner with Product Lines, engineering, finance, and external IP/ecosystem partners, and represent platform trade-offs to executive leadership and key customers.

Experience Level

Senior-level; typically requires 12+ years of experience in semiconductor or embedded product planning, SoC/platform architecture, or IP planning.

Responsibilities

Own platform definition, prioritize requirements, and lead cross-functional decisions that balance performance, area, power, memory bandwidth, and schedule.

• Define MPU platform family architecture, roadmap, and segmentation for multiple markets.
• Build, lead, and grow a Platform team (IP planners, solution definers, benchmarking) and set technical and hiring standards.
• Translate inputs from Product Lines, regions, key accounts, and domain owners into a single prioritized, traceable platform baseline.
• Arbitrate cross-domain trade-offs and quantify cost/impact of options for executive decision-making.
• Set standards for IP make-vs-buy/license analysis and technical due diligence.
• Own platform-level security and functional safety strategy and align certification roadmap to customer and regulatory expectations.
• Own platform business case with Finance: volume/mix, cost/margin modeling, pricing, and lifecycle commitments.
• Partner with SoC/IP architecture, design, verification, software/BSP, physical implementation, and operations on feasibility and schedule.
• Maintain competitive and technology landscape awareness and represent platform thesis to customers and executives.

Requirements

Key qualifications and capabilities required to perform the role.

• Proven track record defining or architecting MPU/SoC platforms that shipped and succeeded commercially.
• Demonstrated people leadership: built or managed a high-performing technical planning or architecture team.
• Broad technical credibility across vision/multi-modal sensing, AI acceleration, memory/DDR sub-systems, connectivity, and security.
• Experience arbitrating cross-domain trade-offs and keeping organizations aligned to decisions.
• Commercial fluency: cost structure, margins, segmentation, pricing, and multi-year product lifecycle implications.
• Executive presence and ability to defend platform strategy to senior leadership and skeptical technical audiences.
• Experience owning platform business cases, and working closely with finance and PMO on schedule and delivery.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
