Senior Director, Handset Technology Product Manager

Role Summary

Technical and strategic leader responsible for defining next-generation mobile experiences across Snapdragon platforms. Works with CPU, GPU, AI/NPU, Camera, Multimedia, Connectivity, Memory, I/O, System Architecture, and Software teams to translate customer and market needs into technology requirements and aligned IP roadmaps.

Drives cross-functional initiatives from concept through implementation, influences engineering and product roadmaps, and engages OEMs and ecosystem partners to ensure platform investments enable differentiated mobile experiences.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical guidance: 15+ years in semiconductor, mobile platform, system architecture, product management, or related fields. The posting also lists a minimum of 10+ years of product management or related experience.

Responsibilities

Provide product and technology leadership across handset domains and drive cross-organizational alignment.

  • Identify and analyze emerging mobile use cases (AI, multimodal experiences, gaming, imaging, content creation, productivity, ambient computing, XR, next-gen UIs).
  • Translate customer and OEM requirements into long-term platform and IP investment strategies.
  • Define measurable technical requirements, workloads, KPIs, and success criteria spanning CPU, GPU, NPU, Camera, Multimedia, Memory, Connectivity, Security, and Software.
  • Drive handset technology planning and ensure architectural decisions support differentiated experiences.
  • Partner with architecture, product, and engineering teams to align IP development to real-world workloads and customer needs.
  • Perform workload analysis, identify system bottlenecks, and influence IP roadmaps through quantitative and competitive assessment.
  • Lead complex, cross-technology initiatives, build consensus on tradeoffs, and facilitate technical decision-making among stakeholders.
  • Engage OEMs, ecosystem partners, developers, and internal leaders; represent technology in executive reviews and strategic customer discussions.

Requirements

Must-have technical domain knowledge, cross-functional leadership, and communication skills.

  • Deep technical understanding across multiple mobile domains: CPU architecture and performance; GPU and gaming technologies; AI accelerators and ML systems; camera and computational imaging; multimedia processing; mobile system architecture; memory and I/O subsystems; power, performance, and thermal optimization; and mobile software/operating systems.
  • Proven ability to define cross-team technical requirements and drive execution to completion.
  • Demonstrated success leading large cross-functional initiatives across multiple engineering organizations.
  • Strong analytical and systems-thinking capabilities; experience with workload characterization and bottleneck analysis.
  • Track record of influencing senior leadership and technical stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Nice-to-have: experience working directly with mobile OEMs and ecosystem partners; experience influencing semiconductor architecture and IP roadmaps; expertise in mobile AI, computational photography, gaming technologies, or future mobile user experiences; experience conducting competitive analysis.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Preferred: advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Engineering or Computer Science; MBA or equivalent business experience is desirable. The posting allows advanced degrees to substitute for work experience (Master's = one year, Doctorate = two years) as an equivalent-experience exception.
