Job Title

Senior Digital Test Engineer (SCAN/MBIST)

Role Summary

Work on digital test and manufacturing bring-up for SoC hardware, focusing on scan and MBIST-related test solutions. Collaborate with design, verification, validation, software and systems teams to improve yield, test time, and product quality.

This role is part of Qualcomm's Hardware Engineering organization and supports production test, characterization, and reliability evaluation for leading-edge semiconductor products.

Experience Level

Senior role. Typically requires multiple years of hardware engineering experience (preferred 3+ years); role expects independent work, decision-making impact beyond the immediate group, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning, verification, and testing of digital hardware and production test solutions. Key duties:

  • Plan, optimize, verify, and test electronic systems and perform bring-up for chips and test systems (including FPGA/DSP/test systems).
  • Integrate features and functionality into hardware designs per project roadmaps.
  • Perform simulations and analyses to meet targets for power, performance, and area.
  • Develop and implement production test solutions to improve yield, test time, and quality (SCAN/MBIST workflows implied by role).
  • Characterize devices, evaluate manufacturing and reliability issues, and propose automation or optimization to increase productivity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate requirements and new test solutions into production programs.
  • Write detailed technical documentation for hardware projects and test procedures.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical skills and experience:

  • Must-have: Multiple years of hardware engineering or related experience with practical exposure to hardware test, bring-up, or manufacturing characterization.
  • Must-have: Ability to perform simulations and analyses and to implement design/test solutions to meet power, performance, and area goals.
  • Must-have: Experience collaborating with design, verification, validation, and software teams; strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Circuit design experience (digital, analog, RF); schematic capture and circuit simulation tool experience.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience using hardware measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools) and development of production test systems and automation.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with MBIST/SCAN methodologies, FPGA-based test systems, and manufacturing yield optimization.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field (with 2+ years of hardware engineering experience); OR Master's degree in those fields (with 1+ year of hardware engineering experience); OR PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master’s degree and 3+ years of hardware engineering experience.
