Job Title
Senior Digital Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead digital IC design activities for complex System-on-Chip (SoC) and MCU products, collaborating with analog, mixed-signal, software, verification, DfT and physical design teams to deliver high-performance edge processing solutions from the Catania site.
Work in a fast-paced product development environment focused on delivering reliable, high-quality microcontrollers and mixed-signal products.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 5+ years of experience in digital IC design.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and execute the full digital IC design flow: specification, architectural design, RTL coding (Verilog/SystemVerilog), synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), formal verification, and power analysis.
- Contribute to design-for-testability (DFT) implementation and verification.
- Collaborate with analog, mixed-signal, and software teams to define interfaces and optimize system performance.
- Develop and implement digital architectures and methodologies to meet performance, power, and area targets.
- Perform comprehensive design verification using simulation, formal techniques, and hardware emulation.
- Participate in post-silicon validation and debug to identify and resolve issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to improve design processes.
- Produce detailed design documentation, including specifications, test plans, and design reviews.
- Monitor industry trends and incorporate relevant best practices into the team.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in digital IC design.
- Expertise in RTL design and verification using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Proven experience with industry-standard EDA tools for synthesis and STA (examples: Synopsys Design Compiler, Cadence Genus, PrimeTime).
- Experience with formal verification tools (example: Synopsys Formality) and simulation environments (examples: VCS, QuestaSim).
- Strong understanding of digital design principles, clock domain crossing (CDC) issues, power integrity, and low-power design techniques.
- Experience with scripting for automation (Python, Perl, Tcl).
- Familiarity with mixed-signal integration challenges and verification methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, debugging, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to lead technical discussions and work independently.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
